Welcome new families
Welcome to Kalāheo High School. We are honored to have you as a new member of our student body and will work hard to provide a supportive learning environment for all our students. We are proud of our diversity. Our students and families come form all points on the map. Kalāheo's faculty, staff and student body are composed of individuals from all parts of the United States and many parts of the world. This base diversity leads to a varied and rich learning environment.
We understand the challenges you may be experiencing as you transition to Hawai'i. New home, new school and new environment - they all can be overwhelming at times. We want to make your transition as smooth as possible, with a variety of services we can offer.
All new students receive a welcome packet on their first day. The welcome packet consists of a few helpful items that make the transition to Kalāheo High School a little more comfortable. Our Transition Center located in C102 serves as a home base for some new students. Others may discover a classroom with a special teacher, the Career and College Center, the library or the computer lab as that special place to gather during morning recess or lunch. New students are paired with a “buddy” who will show you around our campus and be a peer point of contact to answer questions and field concerns. We also have a lunch buddy program where new students and current students meet every Friday in comfortable surroundings to enjoy food and discussion.
